Let's go on a trip!

Even though I am European and have lived in Europe my whole life, I am pretty sure that many non-Europeans have seen more of the cities to see in Europe than I have. I have done my fair share of traveling (though nowhere near as much as I would like), but somehow I never managed to go to those cities that would be on a must-see list for anyone visiting Europe. I don’t really have a good excuse for it either, except I am notoriously bad at saving up for anything, or really, with money in general.

I do hope that I will have the opportunity to do one or two of the trips on my list this year, and visit the others in the coming years. After all, all it takes is a few hundred bucks (if only those were easy to obtain) and an extended weekend. Flights within Europe are so cheap nowadays, and some of the cities are distances that would even be manageable by train.

While I have been to London, Dublin (though that was nearly ten years ago, and I definitely want to revisit, what with how little I remember except that I loved it), the Tuscany, a couple of towns in France, and many cities in Spain, I have yet to visit …

Aren’t these stunning photos of beautiful places? If you gave me the option to travel to one of these cities tomorrow, all expenses paid, I wouldn’t hesitate to go. And soak up the impressions of foreign places. And take beautiful photos of my own.

I cannot wait for my next trip. I am missing traveling so much. I hope it will be soon.

If you had the opportunity to go on a trip somewhere, anywhere you want, tomorrow, which place would you pick?

  1. I really want to see more of Scandinavia (have only been to Copenhagen so far), Prague and Edinburgh when it comes to realistic trips. Trips requiring much more money: Australia, Maldives (my boyfriend has been there and I’m so jealous) and New York. Although I might go to New York this fall. :)

  2. I love how you dream Karen. Where did you study while you were abroad learning English. I do hope you get to visit your cities of your dreams. For me, that would be living in Europe again…

    • Thanks for your comment. I spent a year living and studying at a university in Oklahoma. You know, I have noticed how Americans dream of going (back) to Europe, while I would drop anything to get the opportunity to live in the US again (right after I have visited all of the cities mentioned in my post, haha). The grass is always greener on the other side.

  3. I really want to go to Prague! I think that’s where we will end up on our mini-honeymoon. Paris is incredible and I can’t wait to go back there. Vienna is on the list too. Rome, on the other hand, is worth seeing once, but I wouldn’t go back again. I’ve been there 3 times and hated it the last 2 times I was there. Once you get over the whole “OMG, I’m in ROME!” thing, it kinda sucks – the people there are awful. But that’s just my two cents. We should take a blogging road trip or something!

  4. But at least you have been to U.S., something not so common among Europeans. I think you really should go to Paris or Rome. They´re simply a must-see!!! I´m kind of lucky, cause near me there´s the Karlsruhe-Baden airport (really near, actually in less than an hour and for a cheap price I´m there), where I can fly with Rynair to Rome, London, Barcelona, or I could also take a train straight to Paris, from KA it takes only three hours!!! Magnificent to live in the South of Germany. The only problem about traveling after finishing University is that everything is more expensive for non-students and you have less time in the year to have a long holiday, on the other hand, you have more money to spend…but I still want to travel as much as I can now and later on when I get a job do the most expensiveand extravagant destinies like Japan, China, Bahamas, Dubai, etc.

    • That’s true! I wanted to go to Paris before I leave Heidelberg, because it is so close if you take the TGV. I might not be able to, though (for financial reasons). As for the airport, that’s definitely a plus! I usually fly places from Munich (because I was in Munich anyway, when I went abroad). I think if you get a job in Germany, you’d still have plenty of time for traveling even when you are working full time because you get so many days off each year.
